Program Description

The Administrative Office Technology program is designed to develop skills through technical training necessary for entry-level employment in an office setting of the 21st century. The curriculum reflects the use of the latest software applications and state-of-the-art office equipment. During the technical training, students also learn proper office procedures, and interpersonal skills through the strong emphasis of worker characteristics necessary for success in any working environment. Additionally, many of the courses assist the student with the preparation needed to sit for various certification examinations.

Students can earn the following credentials:
  • General Office certificate at the completion of the 1st trimester
  • Office Software Specialist certificate at the completion of the 2nd trimester
  • Accounting Assistant diploma upon completion of all three trimesters
The Accounting Assistant courses leading to diploma completion place an emphasis on helping students understand:
  • How accounts are affected by specific business transactions and how to correct problems with business transactions in an automated accounting system
  • The payroll process both manually and using automated payroll accounting software
  • Computerized accounting and the operating procedures for all Windows-based programs

Full-time students can complete all three trimesters in 12 months (1,296 clock hours); part-time students can complete all three trimesters in 16 months (1,296 clock hours).
