College of Applied Technology at Athens
Overview
Athens is located in East Tennessee on Interstate 75 midway between Knoxville and Chattanooga. The College of Applied Technology at Athens services individuals from a broad geographical area comprised of McMinn, Monroe, Bradley, Meigs and Polk counties. The school opened in June 1965 with a total of 25 students enrolled in three programs--Automotive Mechanics, Air Conditioning and Machine Shop.
The mission of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Athens is to meet, more adequately, the occupational and technical training needs of citizens and residents of the College’s service area including employees of existing and/or prospective industries and businesses of the state.
